History Of Shaolin Kung Fu
Kungfu, wu gong and wushu are references to the skills acquired by individuals through a period of time. In the western world, “Kung fu” refers to most Chinese martial arts. It’s a form of skill in the study of self defence for the all round improvement of individuals, internal and external, and the practice of weapons further help to enhance and improve ones skill in balance and strength.
Every countries and/or nationalities have their own martial arts skills advanced since the dawn of history. Similarly China had a long history of martial arts since the days of the Shaolin Temple. The arrival of Bodhidharma ( Da Mo) to the Shaolin Temple brought about the introduction of “The 18 Hands of Lohan” and the practice of internal systems of kungfu. Throughout history the numbers of practitioner that qualify from the temple and brought Kungfu to the rest of the world were inmense especially so when the temple was burnt. They moved to southern China to the province of Kwangtung and the ten most outstanding disciples of Shaolin Temple are the “Ten Tigers of Kwangtung” Among them was Sifu Wong Kei-Ying , the father of Wong Fei-hung.
Grand Master Wong Pak Siu mastered authentic Shaolin Kungfu from two of the Ten Tigers of Kwangtung and he further perfected his kungfu with Sifu Li Nan of Jiang Men City before he headed south to Malaysia.A hugh number of Kungfu practitioners, at the point in time, moved out of southern China to countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Philippines and the United States. Most of them still carry with them generations of authentic Shaolin Kungfu, the Five Animal Forms.( Dragon, Tiger, Snake Crane & Leopard)
